This beautiful rose is from a rose bush that I bought recently to honor the memory of my mother. I had originally bought two, but the other became infested with rose mites and had to be removed. The surviving bush would have been her favorite. She loved red roses. I am so pleased it has endured. It reminds me that God is ever present to protect and guide us through the damaging influences of this world. Like Daniel and his friends, I want to go through the fire and not even have a hint of destruction on me. In fact, I want to come out smelling like a rose.

The satraps, the prefects, the governors and the king’s high officials gathered around and saw in regard to these men that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head singed, nor were their trousers damaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them (Daniel 3:27).
